Apex is very sure of himself, to the point of arrogance. Everything has come pretty easily to him, he's good looking, smart, powerful, and doesn't really know what it's like to earn things. However he genuienly has a good heart and does want to help people; he takes the protection of the innocent very much to heart.

Ezil is an Empyrean born to a human mother. While his father has extensive mental abilities, Ezil has always focused on the physical aspect of his heritage. He does seem to have greater mental control over his own body than the average Empyrean as shown by his increased control over his flight, and his ability to heal wounds extremely rapidly.

In combat, Apex is very straight foward. He is young and most of his early fights have been easy victories versus less advantaged opponents. He attacks straight on with little regard for tactics, swinging until his opponent goes down.

During the course of his misadventures with the West Coast Champions, Apex developed greater mastery over his flight capabilities, and also discovered quite by accident that he can project beams of astonishing graviton based force from his eyes with concentration and effort. It is likely that he will discover even more unusual abilities with time as he grows into his powerful heritage.

ORIGIN
Ezil's story actually beings 10,000 years ago in Egypt, where a man who will come to be called Eidolon is born. Eidolon is one of a powerful, immortal race of humans called Empyreans, and Ezil's father. Eidolon stuided all sorts of arts and sciences over the years, but recently became facinated with Humanity's relationship to the Dreamzone. To study this phenomenon more closely Eidolon set up shop as a Dream Therapist in San Diego.

He was visited one day by a beautiful woman who was so troubled by nightmares she was displaying physical reations to what happened in her dreams. If she were cut in her dreams, the cuts would appear on her skin in the physical world. Eidolon vowed to help this woman, and used his powers to enter her dreams. There he learned she was actually being plagued by demon trying to use her powerful mind to open a gate from the Dreamworld to the real world. Together they fought off the demon and bannished him to his infernal realm. Eidolon was so struck by the woman's courage, and strengeth, and she so overcome with greatfulness, the two had a passionate one night affiar.

The woman decided to have the baby on her own, and never told the father. When Ezil was old enough to inquire about his father, his mother would only say that he was a good man, and that he saved her life, but nothing more.

As Ezil grew older, it was obvious to him that he wasn't like the other children. He was stronger, faster, and even smarter than most. By the time he was ready for college he was able to juggle cars with little effort. He took pains to hide his powers from everyone, including his mother. It did cause him to wonder who his father was, but in his mind, answered why he wasn't around. He occasionally used his powers in secret to foil a crime or to help the odd person here or there, but nothing major...Until VIPER came to his college. A scientist at the college had invented a new polymer that VIPER wanted, they brought a team of agents and Ogre as backup.

Ezil and a young woman he was partnered with for a lab project were cornered in a lab adjoining the professors and were caught up in the situation. When Ogre knocked the girl down casually in a show of contempt she hit her head and fell hard. Ezil couldnt tell if she were alive or dead, and lost control of his anger in the face of such casual cruelty. Rising to his feet despite the guns of the VIPER agents aimed in his general direction, he one punched Ogre into a stupor and proceeded to wipe the floor with the rest of the agents. Fortunately, the girl proved to be unconscious but otherwise ok.

As there were no witnesses other than Ogre and VIPER goons Ezil was able to avoid outing his secret id, but Ogre and VIPER know the truth; their emnity may cause Ezil future problems.
