Llanastr, Clan of the Bull
|
Members of Clan Llanastr (HLAN-astr) are generally held suspect by most other Var.
They are more comfortable above ground than other Var, and frequently live outside
of the Hold, though close by.
|
|
They serve their Hold well, however, by being responsible for both lumber and livestock.
As such, they provide wood, meat, and leather to a Varic Hold, though they virtually
never farm crops en masse. Additionally, they often provide scouts, hunters, and
archers for a Varic war band should it need to travel overland.
|
|
The problem is that the other eleven Clans sometimes suspect the Llanastr as being
more like the Kor than proper Var. This isn't really true, but the Var are suspicious
of a Clan that isn't properly comfortable under the mountains.
|
|
APPEARANCE & DRESS
|
|
The Llanastr tend to be tall for Var, with a few specimens cresting 5 feet in height,
and tend towards leaner builds. The Llanastr usually have brown hair, blue or brown
eyes, and fleshy skin tones. They prefer to wear treated light leather garments
which they make themselves and green or brown cloaks they make from imported cloth.

The Llanstr menfolk tend to keep their beards short, and shave their upper lip for
some reason, giving them a distinctive look. Some Llanastr can pass for short humans
in a favorable light.

GENERAL CHARACTER
|
|
The Llanastr are a generally friendly and practical folk. Lacking many of the Adaptations
of their kin to living underground, the are perfectly content to live comfortable
existances on the surface. In some places they even build their homes out of wood
like Humans do, rather than carving out a residence into the side of the mountain
they live upon.
|
|
They handle a lot of trade with Humans for the Var, though usually they are involved
in handling imports, being more concerned with amenities than selling fancywork
and weapons.
|
|
ORIGINS & ORGANIZATION
|
|
The Ceidwad of the Llanastr is chosen by vote among the clans adults. The Ceidwad
rules for 20 years, and a new election is then held, but the same Ceidwad may be
chosen again.
