Sonnenwende Mondfeuer
|
Huarthmunn Clan
|
Sonnenwende was slain in battle with a Vorshek under the mountain at Wundrak.
|
"The Winter Wind shall blow as a scythe
sheafing the wheat of Volding foes
Hearthborn son of Thralls betides
Grandsire to honored wardship rose.
Weapon skilled and farmer wise
Sword and hearth lore both he knows"
|
|
As simple and uncomplicated as they come, Sonnenwende hardly seems a warrior at
all. Though the Huarthmunn tend to the solid in their builds he is small and slight.
Where most of his country men wield heavy weapons, he wields two short swords. Where
most Thegn's carry themselves with an air of superiority, he has all the prepossession
of an eager child.
|
But any doubt of his warcraft is immediately dissolved whenever he must draw his
blades, for he becomes a whirling terror of death, reaping foes as he would wheat
in the fields, harvesting souls as he would produce.
|
|
In practice, while Sonnenwende is deadly dangerous in theory, he was never utilized
very effectively by his player and failed to impress. It didn't help that the bulk
of the early foes the Arrows faced prior to Sonnenwende's death were hardy and tough
to kill Kor-Daen in heavy armor. Though Sonnenwende was able to fight three and
once even four of them simultaneously, a feat only Saemund (fighting defensively)
and Spatzenjager in full wereform could match, his barrage of small attacks had
lessened effectiveness against the high defense of the brikish Kor and he had difficulty
putting them down quickly which was blown out of proportion by some of the other
players.
|
Versus the Landrothi on the other hand, Sonnenwende was extremely effective; however
as the group had little respect for the Undari (despite Refskegg getting killed
by them, and both Kjar and Spatzenjager also being severely injured against them)
this won him little recognition. In the face of much derision the player's interest
in the character was eroded, and Sonnenwende was basically suicided in the fight
under the mountain of Wundrak, deliberately played in such a way as to invite death.
Even then, he inflicted a good deal of damage on several Kor warriors on his way
out.
|
Also, as useful as he was in a tight pinch, Sonnenwende's naivety and lack of worldly
knowledge beyond the bounds of a farmstead were a constant hindrance to his comrades,
and his hyperactive / sleeping disorder was quite a nuisance.
