Raevoring Clan

"Sea-borne Exile Roaming
Clan subborned to loyalty
Foxbeard blood spilt and owing
Deserving of exile or to be free?
Foe-wise and witnessed knowing
Will he choose Clan or would-be Royalty?
|
|
A Gefolgsman to Torgath Torvoldsen, a respected and powerful Sea-Reeve, Kurtzen
was a good Raevoring, a good and able Clansman, a believer in the bonds of the banner
sworn and the honorable behavior of a true Thegn of the Machtig-Baelvolkerung.
|
When Torgath's enemy Gunnar assumed Lairdship and exiled Torgath for no legal reason,
Kurtzen loyally accompanied him from the Clan. Though others protested the unlawful
exile, when Torgath chose not to exercise his right to challenge Gunnar, his men
lost faith in his courage and refused to go as well.
|
The two had many adventures and misadventures for eleven long years, but most of
them in the last eight years have been conducted for the betterment of the Landrothi.
|
Torvald has become increasingly allied to a Landrothi zauberer named Bakuda Rabusha
and in addition to aiding him in the recovery of various artifacts they have also
recruited and organized a crack band of elite mercenaries called Torgathsmen, which
are almost entirely employed in the service of the Landrothi crown from Zerlaaga
and by Rabusha for his strange quests and missions.
|
Increasingly dissatisfied with his leiges increasing departure from Machtig traditions,
Kurtzen's last straw was being tasked to lead a clutch of Landrothi into the Vold
that turned out to be assassins, who struck down a fellow young Raevoring named
Refskegg in his sleep and attempted to do the same to his friends. With a roar of
anger and betrayal of his trust, Kurtzen drew steel and sounded the alarm to the
other sleeping Macthig, striking down two of the Landrothi he had guided.
|
Afterwards Kurtzen joined with the surviving Arrows and eventually travelled to
Zerlaaga with Saemund, Fyrclian, and Kjar where the four of them labored for months
and in the end managed to root out the Cult of Tzoruul and expose its plot to overthrow
the Landrothi King and seize power. Kurtzen struck down Torgath in a climactic confrontation
as Torgath lead the Tzoruul forces in a coup while Kurtzen led the loyalist troops
resisting them. When the dust had settled, Kurtzen was appointed the Warlord of
Landroth by the grateful King and rose to greatness.
|
Years later when some of the Arrows returned to Zerlaaga in their ongoing war against
Warlord Gragnek of the Kor, they allied again with Kurtzen to aid his forces in
annexing a neighboring country and staging a defensive front against the Kor. The
alliance led by Kurtzen proved beneficial to both the Landrothi and the Machtig,
and laid the groundwork for a true and lasting alliance between the two nations.
