Shiv is a determined young man, driven by his own desires to pull his way out of the slums and into a better life for himself, one fingernail at a time. He is intense, and has a almost frightening hunger for success. He has little patience for things that get in his way, and while he's not impatient per se neither is he content to idle.

Shiv can be quite ruthless if need be, but he does love his girlfriend immensely, and has a soft spot for the elderly.

Shiv is a capable and dangerous infighter that prefers to work old-skool; he's a master of knives and blades in general. He typically is festooned with vibro-knives, laser sculpted throwing knives, and his pride and joy a custom built electrified machete he calls his "Espada de Rayo", or Rayo for short, and he is confident in their use. So much so in fact that he rather immodestly took the name "Shiv" for himself. But then humbleness isn't chief amongst Roberto Morenos's virtues, really.

Aside from his lovely collection of sharp objects, Shiv has both some basic Cyberware in the form of a Reenforced Skeleton and Dermal Plating, and more significantly some very expensive BioWare Synthetic Muscles. Though he tires quickly when fully exerting himself, his Synthetic Muscles allow Shiv to make incredible bursts of speed. They also almost quadruple his strength.

If deprived of his weapons Shiv is still a competent pugilist, able to punch weave and jab, and his weighted knuckles provide some extra umph to make his strikes very dangerous. Though he certainly wouldn't want to go toe to toe with a real specialist he can certainly hold his own against most folks in a knock down drag out. With time he might develop more finese in this area and become a truly dangerous unarmed combatant, but in the meantime his preoccupation with blades overshadows this potential.

Shiv wears a pair of armored leggings when going in to combat, since he relies so much on mobility and can ill afford to have his legs shot out from under him. Otherwise he runs around pretty lightly armored, relying on his dermal plating, speed, and luck. He also has one of the secured handsfree comm units typical of the LIBRA team.

Shiv still has some contacts on the streets amongst Auger gangs in the Angelos area that occasionally prove to be useful, and sometimes does business with a black marketeer call Hernie.

Roberto Morenos grew up in a neighborhood so tough and mean and embedded in gangland that even hot and heavy sec-forces roll through it in platoon strength if at all. It was pretty much a forgone conclusion that Roberto would be in a gang, and so he was from age 6, a mostly Latino Auger gang called Manos y Cuchillas. By age 17 the highly motivated Roberto was a big man in the gang and weilded some real power based upon his hard-learned skills with blades and had earned enough money via drug trafficing and robbery to upgrade himself with cutting edge BioWare Synthetic Muscles.

However, it wasn't enough for Roberto. He wanted what he always had wanted...to get out of the slums forever, make a better life for himself, and have a family. Unexpectedly he got his chance when he was approached by a smoking hot gringo woman who offered him a once in a lifetime opportunity. Apparantly she represented a Runner team that had been hired by Waring International to steal back some prototype tech the Cuchillas had stolen from a nearby facility. If Roberto would simply help them get the prototype via stealth then everyone would win in the big picture...the company would get their stuff back, LIBRA would get paid and thus Roberto would get paid, and the Cuchillas wouldn't have to suffer through a more messy extraction. It was left unsaid what would happen if he had refused (Shade would have shot him in the head from hiding, of course), but fortunately for Roberto he decided to take the offer.

He managed to acquire the prototype and make delivery of it to LIBRA as agreed, but his depredation did not go undected and he was summarily declared a traitor to the gang and a short chase ensued. LIBRA allowed him to pull out of the area with them, and for lack of other options at the time he ended up sticking around the group and has slowly been accepted as a (junior) member. He's learned a lot in the months since then, and even met a new girlfriend who he's head over heels for at a trendy upscale club he'd never have been able to get into in the old days. Yes, life is working out just fine for Roberto of late, and even the prospect of the occasional run in with Cuchillas eager to kill him in revenge can't dull his buzz.
