Typifying Excerpt
|
"…they all wore dark red robes and masks to conceal their faces. They circled around
me, chanting the same words over and over again. Their leader stood beside me with
an ugly old knife, and as the chanting got louder and faster he raised it up high
above me. If FBI agents hadn't kicked in the door and shot everyone, I would have
been dead for sure…" - Excerpt from the after action debrief Section M Case File

Profile
|
The Cult of the Red Hand is an esoteric cult with diabolic leanings and a three
century history.
|
The Cult has flourished in the modern era, peaking in the 1970's, but believed to
still have approximately 2,000 esoterically capable individuals among its membership
worldwide, in addition to an unknown number of "initiates" who lack or have not
yet developed esoteric abilities.
|
Known History
|
The Cult of the Red Hand is believed to have originated in Wallachia (present day
Romania) over three centuries ago. There is very strong evidence indicating that
the cult remains under the ultimate control of the infamous Warlock
Tudor Brezak, who is also believed to have founded the cult originally.
|
Prior to WW2 the cult was active in southeastern Europe around the Black Sea and
primarily located in Bucharest. Post WW2 the cult largely abandoned the old world
and spread into England, Canada, and the United States, eventually flowing back
into Europe in the 60's and 70's. In the modern era approximately 70% of the cult
is believed to be based in the US and Canada, approximately 20% in Britain, and
the remainder scattered in small cells in various cities of the world.
|
According to debriefed members and former members, in the modern day the cult is
organized in cells very much like a spy ring, stemming from direct experience with
such practices as part of the Axis forces in WW2. The cult favors large cities,
but not every city has a cell and even those that do typically only support one
cell. NYC has two and the greater LA area boasts three. Members of cells are kept
in the dark about the existence of other cells unless necessary, and the inner circle
of the cult actively make rounds to keep the network running. The flow of information
is a tightly controlled commodity.
|
Rank within the cult is very vaguely defined. Within a cell a member with esoteric
ability is either the leader of that cell or they are just a cultist. Members that
have no esoteric abilities as of yet are initiates; some never develop esoteric
abilities and are effectively expendable. Occassionally the leader of a successful
cell will receive a visitation from an inner master and either are promoted to become
part of the inner circle or disappear and are never heard from again. In either
case a new leader is appointed.
|
Almost nothing is known about the inner circle. Current analysis identifies the
following persons as likely members: Albert Armos, Sir Jonathan Bryce, Silvia Chan,
Amy Mullis, Cayce Jaimes, and Tomas Vincent.
|
Known Motivation
|
The ultimate motivations of the cult are unknown, but appear to be two-fold. On
a day to day basis the purpose of individual cells appears to be oriented around
finding new initiates, seducing or incenting them into the cult, teaching them to
develop esoteric abilities if they don't already have them, and removing any conscience
or resistance they might have to committing extreme acts of diabolical evil. Secondarily
they actively monitor local supernatural activity and report anything interesting
upstream to the inner circle.
|
In addition to this basic MO, periodically a cell might be called upon to serve
the needs of an inner master or perhaps Tudor Brezak himself, assisting in some
larger scheme (the details of which are generally not communicated). It is on these
occassions that a given cell ceases to be a local threat and participates in things
that pose a regional, national, or even global threat.
|
Known Abilities
|
The Cult of the Red Hand exhibits unusual diversity, opting for an inclusionary
outlook. They'll take anyone practicing any sort of Daemonology or Invocation of
dark powers, in conjunction with whatever other abilities they have. Thus encounters
with different cells can be somewhat varied.
|
Known Associates
|
The Cult of the Red Hand is strongly assocated with Tudor
Brezak.
