Group Relations
|
Showdown is the unquestioned leader of the Initiative, and all of the core members
defer to him implicitly. Spiker in particular is devoted to Showdown and brooks
no insubordination; she has to be reined back on occasion due to her zeal.
|
Showdown trusts The Mod, Capacitar, and Amp quite a bit and allows them pretty free
latitude. He generally gives Ferrous similar latitude but privately Showdown doubts
Ferrous's motivations and pays closer attention to what he's doing (though he often
sends Ferrous out to help teams needing "brickish" assistance). Collectively these
four are effectively semi-autonomous agents and can be thought of as "lieutenants".
If he needs some official representation and can't himself be present, Showdown
will often delegate to The Mod due to his very strong relationship with PRIMUS.
|
Trinity is fairly new and is still a little too much of a loose cannon, and Showdown
is giving him close mentorship and monitoring.
|
Ascension is attached to the Initiative but Showdown privately considers him to
be more of a hindrance than an asset; he generally only brings Ascension into play
when his powers are particularly relevant and otherwise leaves him to tutoring.
|
Mr. Goodspeed isn't technically a HERONet member as he never volunteered; he was
assigned to the Initiative as part of his plea bargain settlement and doesn't have
the best attitude about it, however his specialized skills are crucial and represent a real
asset. Thus Showdown treats Goodspeed like many companies treat their IT / Engineering
staff -- essential and valued but kept at arms length and not involved in managerial
decisions. This suits Goodspeed fine; he's got no interest in politics, glad handing,
or shmoozing.
|
Capacitar and Amp sometimes work together even outside of the context of the Initiative
and are good friends. The Mod has started to hang out with them when the opportunity
presents itself, and Ferrous joins up as well if he's feeling a little social. The
four sometimes spend a weekend in Vegas in between heroing, and misadventures tend
to ensue as is typical for superheroes.

Public Relations
|
After a somewhat rocky start due to misgivings and suspicions among the superhero
community, the Initiative has made a good deal of progress and is considered to
be a developing success.
|
Some critics write it off as nothing more than lip service and public relations
spin by PRIMUS, but a number of small time, unorganized, and underfunded superheroes
and superteams have received real material assistance, training, and intelligence
via the conduit of the Initiative and word has spread.
