I'm fine with all of the backgrounds as is, though obviously some of the Origin feats are better than others and thus the backgrounds that offer them are better than the ones that don't. I'm pretty flexible about substitutions, as long as they fit a character's backstory / make sense.
The template for backgrounds is clear: three attributes, one Origin feat, two skill proficiencies, one non-skill proficiency or language, and 50 gp. A player at my table can work with me to define a custom background with some combination of those things.
