Effect: Strength is used to create and overcome Assets and Complications; Strength can also be used to inflict Stress (usually Body Stress) as an attack, and in some cases to defend against Stress inflicting attacks if relevant. Strength is also useful for combining with other Ability traits such as Unarmed or Melee allowing characters that are both skilled at hand-to-hand combat and very strong to have an edge vs equally skilled but less mighty opponents.
At d4 characters are able to lift and carry normal mundane objects, a reasonable amount of odds and ends in a sack or backpack, to open drawers and unlocked hinged doors without effort, and other every day tasks. Characters are typically assumed to have this step of Strength, unless it runs counter to concept.
At d6 characters are stronger than usual, able to lift and carry double or occasionally triple the amount normal people are capable of, can kick in a typical unreinforced door, and can bodily force a weaker person to the ground or through a doorway with little effort. Additionally, at this step a character can step down Strength and use it as if it were Unarmed.
At d8 characters are substantially stronger than normal people, capable of circus-worthy minor feats of strength like bending iron bars, can shoulder check normal doors off their hinges, can kick in most reinforced doors, and can throw normal sized people around as if they were children.
At d10 characters are freakishly and perhaps famously strong, capable of major feats of strength, can hurl heavy things like logs or large stones or small vehicles impressive distances, are able to kill normal people with simple brute force even without meaning to, shatter doors, bend tempered steel, crush skulls, and so on.
At d12 characters are ridiculously strong, able to generate tremendous amounts of force, capable of shattering large structures, can throw heavy things vast distances, and so on.
Common SFX: For characters so strong they can do things like stomp the ground to knock down everyone around them, clap their hands to create a stunning shockwave, or toss extra large objects around, the Area Affect SFX is appropriate.
The Line of Sight SFX can be applied to allow Strength to be used at range, representing a form of telekinesis.
Common Limits: The Tiring Limit can be applied if using Strength takes a lot out of a character.
