Counterspell
Mystical, Special
Counterspell allows characters to cancel mystical effects and to remove mystical Assets and Complications.
Effect: Counterspell is used on actions to step down or remove a mystical Asset or Complication, and on reactions to cancel a mystical attack or effect. A character cannot use their Counterspell trait versus a trait that is two or more steps higher; for instance a character with Counterspell: d4 cannot attempt to counter an Asset, Complication, Hex, or Spell of d8 and higher.
Common SFX: The Sigil SFX can be applied to allow a character to spend one (1) Plot Point to create an Asset attached to a zone that will automatically attempt to counter any mystic ability used within or into that zone; the Asset is one step lower than the character's Counterspell trait.
Common Limits: A Limit can be applied to restrict a character's Counterspell to a specific kind of magic, such as Sorcery Only or Necromancy Only.
The Reactionary Limit can be applied to restrict a character's Counterspell to only be usable as part of a reaction.
The Unraveling Limit can be applied to restrict a character's Counterspell to only be usable as part of an action to remove a mystic Asset or Complication.
