Effect: Senses can be used on actions to gain Assets or overcome Complications, and on reactions to protect against being surprised, and of course to notice things.
At d4 a character has the normal five senses with average acuity.
At d6 a character's normal five senses are above average in range and acuity across the board.
At d8 all of a character's senses are remarkably heightened, and extended. Additionally such a character usually has superior night vision, can recognize individuals or track by smell, pick out one voice among many from across a room, and other similar sensory tricks. In some settings, this level of Senses may also provide the ability to detect esoteric things, such as the supernatural.
At d10 a character has extremely accurate and extended senses, and are able to detect things beyond what the standard five senses normally allow, able to do things like recognize people by the sound of their heartbeat, sense people through walls via vibrations, exhibit microscopic and / or telescopic precision, and potentially even detect things that are not normally detectable by lesser senses.
Ad d12 a character has supremely accurate heightened senses and are absurdly perceptive, capable of detecting just about anything with almost no narrative justification necessary...cosmic awareness is on the table.
Common SFX: The Clairsentience SFX can be taken to allow Senses to be used at range, using the Extended Range table; applying this SFX may make a character's Senses qualify as either a Psychic or Mystical Ability trait depedending upon the justification for that character's abilities.
Common Limits: It is common to take a Limit to narrow enhanced Senses to a single sense such as sight or hearing or smell, or to restrict Senses to a specific purpose such as adding the capability to detect Invisible things.
The Sensitive Limit can be applied to allow a character to get one (1) Plot Point when their superior senses become a Complication.
