PERSONALITY & MOTIVATION
Ron is bitter, moody, prone to brooding, and angry at life. And to be fair, he has gotten a pretty raw deal in life. He is easily frustrated when things don't go his way, which is often, and though he's not really a bad person he tends to do things he later regrets when he loses his temper. It doesn't help that his ability to contain his powers falters when he's angry.

POWERS & SPECIAL EFFECTS
Furnace's inner core temperature is ridiculously hot, which grants him very powerful heat emission abilities. However his powers are difficult to control as they cause contact fires among flammable items, and also cause heat damage to the surrounding environment. Additionally, Furnace's body is superhumanly tough and durable to survive the powerful energies he generates.

Even when he's controlling the full breadth of his heat emission (not using Too Hot To Handle), he is still quite warm to the touch (HOT!!! HOT!!! HOT!!!) and can potentially hurt someone even on accident. It should go without saying that it's generally unwise to touch him when he's venting heat freely (Too Hot To Handle is on).

ORIGIN
Ron Blankenshire is a child of a blue class family who never had much in the way of prospects. His childhood was unremarkable, other than a presistent lack of luck in any endeavor, and after highschool he got a dead end job at a KMG Chemicals plant outside of El Centro, California....literally dead end for four of his co-workers who fell into a slurry of chemicals along with Ron when a catwalk over the plant floor gave way on Ron's third day of work. The other four died, but Ron was altered in an alarming way, seeming to burn up from the inside out. He was rushed to a burn unit in San Diego, where he was kept for months in a specially constructed unit that contained the potentially lethal levels of heat he periodically released.

After agnoizing weeks of burning up from the inside but never quite dying, Ron's body finally finished adapting and he was able to gain some control over releasing dangerous levels of heat on accident. Ron didn't have Long Term Disability, so in a really classy move KMG Chem let Ron go with nothing to show for his troubles except workers comp, and the hospital turned him out on the street when his health coverage ran out.

Finding himself stranded in San Diego with no job, no prospects (as usual), and semi-uncontrolled heat emission powers Ron was at loose ends. However he had seen a spot about the AEGIS open trials on the news prior to getting booted from the hospital, so he decided to go give being a hero a shot. Unfortunately his powers were deemed to be too dangerous (and liability incurring) and he wasn't even allowed to try out. Embittered by yet another bad break, he departed disgruntled and an easy mark for someone to turn to villainy...
