Description:
Brother Ernault basically wears the traditional garb of his Order; leather breeches, combat boots, a maroon tunic, and a grey cloak with a quick-release strap, and leather bracers festooned with Megdaglia noting his rank and accomplishments, though (like many Brothers) he prefers to not wear the maroon undershirt that would complete the outfit. He has black eyes, wavy short black hair, and a broad and confident devil-may-care grin that many women have swooned at over the years. He is a large and muscular man, with the tone and cut of a lifetime athlete.

TACTICS
Brother Ernault is an extremely skilled martial artist, with a very offensively oriented style. He particularly excels at fighting multiple opponents and in the general melee of battle, but he is also quite dangerous one on one.

In addition to his martial mastery, he is also a very knowledgeable and well traveled individual, and speaks a number of languages. He has also made a detailed study of the Kor as he feels it is important to understand one's enemies.

Personality: Ernault is an enthusiatic and dedicated military man, devoted to his Order, and motivated to serve it to the very best of his abilities. However, he is a leader, not some aimless follower, and he excels at taking personal initiative and reacting to situations as they transpire rather than waiting for orders. In this he is an ideal Brother, as the Order adheres to a strong tradition of leading from the front small unit manuever warfare. Ernault is very well regarded within the Order, and serves as a model to other would be Brother-Errants.

Background: Ernault was sold to the Order of the Closed Fist fortress at Barizan as a babe. He does not know who his real parents are, and does not care. Raised to the Order's exacting standards as soon as he could follow directions, he was honed like so many before him into a living weapon, able to strike with lethal force with nothing more than his bare limbs.

He had completed three mercenary tours for the Order before he was 24, and became a Brother-Veteran with great pride and honor. He was made a Brother-Commander within another year, and after leading several successful contracts he was made a Brother-Errant and sent out to further the Order's interests in a semi-autonomous fashion, which task he had more than excelled at for several years when he encountered a band of adventurers of primarily Machtig origin plus one Varic warrior in the far off city of Kark, where he was concluding some business for the Order.

These adventurers were pressing to the east into Vorgaanese lands, and were looking for a fellow traveller heading in the same direction to guide them and supplement their numbers in case of attacks by Kor bandits along the way. Ernault liked their moxy and gladly agreed to travel with them and share his knowledge of the trade route to Lanolyan. Along the way the small band had several encounters with Kor and road agents, and even added another warrior to their numbers; a Totem Warrior from Kaer-Na whom they came upon in the aftermath of a dire battle in which he was the only survivor but was gravely injured.

Eventually the hardy group arrived at Ernault's home fortress at Barizan a little north of the capital of Lanolyan, where it was discovered an expeditionary force of Brothers was being assembled to head south to Jarval-Beah to fight in the escalating war with the Kor-Nith tribe. The Machtig adventurers indicated a desire to go there as well, and as Ernault had become quite impressed with their battle skills he arranged it with the Order for them to catch a ride south on the boats taking the expedition. The Varic Warrior stayed behind, unwilling to take such a long journey away from dry land, but the Totem Warrior continued to accompany them.

In Jarval-Beah Ernault remained with the Machtig and Totem Warrior, as they were functioning as a forward unit that came to be called The Arrows, and thus he was in a good position to gather excellent intelligence to report back to the Orders' forces fighting in the war. His expert knowledge of the Kor, and ability to speak their language, as well as his phenomenal fighting skills were a great asset for the Arrows, and Ernault soon became a key element of the band's success.

Eventually the Arrows proved to be instrumental in routing the Kor Warlord Gardek, which broke the Kor advance and marked the turning point of the struggle, though the Totem Warrior Ul-Nar fell in that battle. A few months later the Jarval-Beahan forces had cleaned up and regained their borders, and the band parted company, with the Machtig returning to the east over the Dregga-Therakk mountains and Brother Ernault returning to Barizan, where he was promoted to Brother-Marshal for his heroism and accomplishments in the Jarval-Beahan struggle.

He never encountered any of the Arrows again, but he did make a name for himself as a very successful Brother-Marshal in the years to come.
